WELCOME
Hello, my name is Hayden Hipkiss and I was a senior at Arrowhead High School. At Arrowhead, I was one of just a few students who took the two year pathway to become globally-minded and involved in something bigger than ourselves. We were the Class of 2024 in the Global Scholars Program.
The Global Experience Program
As a student in Wisconsin's Global Scholars Program, I worked to receive the The Wisconsin Global Education Achievement Certificate. To achieve this goal, I needed to volunteer 20+ hours and prove that I am globally minded and passionate. Also, to earn the certificate, I focused on 1 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals created by the United Nations. I focused on SDG #4: Quality Education.
The Gift of Education
My project, Spread the Gift of Education, is a student-led global experience project. I brainstormed, initiated, and planned the project. I continued to take on all tasks that involved the project such as spreading awareness and advocating for donations. I worked with Dr. Fletcher Padoko, the Executive Director for Kasupe Ministries Malawi, to achieve Quality Education in their community. We focused on building two classrooms because previously there were 317 students at Kasupe Ministries with only 4 classrooms. Therefore, there were about 80 students confined in to each one of the small, compressed classrooms. Every student deserves a healthy learning environment that will enhance their ability to learn. Furthermore, all students need the opportunities for growth and success at Kasupe Ministries. In building a classroom at Kasupe, there are now more resources available to the community.
